Zero-touch provisioning for FTTx services
Overview
Remote monitoring software plays a big role in FTTx service because it allows to take control of devices with a great degree of automation. The more it is suited for telco needs, the more devices it can handle. The biggest problem, however, lies in the degree of automation. Zero-touch provisioning for FTTx services automates tasks such as updating firmware, configuring devices or adding crucial features, and does it all with no human intervention. This means saved time, less costs, less manual labor, to name just a few benefits of zero-touch provisioning.
When something involves “zero touch” it usually means full automation. Zero-touch provisioning states that you don’t have to plug any device, connect it to a computer or manually configure it – everything is done automatically. Every business strives to be as automatic as it can. Manual operations are usually slower, less practical and, above all, costly.
This is why full automation is in great demand and zero-touch activation & monitoring are perfect examples of automated operations executed without the need of asking for changes in firmware or without any manual action by the end user, making processes such as hardware replacement completely transparent for the end customer. Zero-touch provisioning allows for automatic configuration of FTTx services, reducing the time needed to manually add devices to a network.
